Firstly I would like to thank the parents and coaches for their effort and support not just today but for the whole season. As Mini Coordinator I have seen the development of the boys and girl this year and all players should be extremely proud of their efforts, as I am!!! Craig
On the playing side the P6/7 side demonstrated again their ability to play as a team and with some great individual performances. The close game with Morgan just went the other way and that was then a 3rd / 4th play off with Brechin. A close game but maybe the minds were now on next Saturdays match against the parents and coaches!
The P4/5 side finished the season on a high, the 3rd game against Blairgowrie finishing 2-2 then it was all going to be down to the last games for both Kinross and Blairgowrie. Kinross won 6-1 against Brechin and Blairgowrie won 7-3 against Strathmore so Points of 10, the same goal difference and so it came down to tries scored. Blairgowrie scored 20 tries but Kinross had scored 24! Deserved champions and all should be very proud of their efforts. Lets see as many of you down next Saturday for the Barbeque and Awards. Well Done!
Starting with the P4's - Some spirited performances and close games with the results not quite going in our favour. With 2 matches drawn and 2 games lost but this should not detract from the performances on the day.
The P5's also did very well with 2 won and 2 lost. A boys played against more experienced teams and showed the difference is closing with each game.
The P7's were left with a shared squad with Kirkcaldy. Thanks to Cammy and his squad for helping out on the day to ensure the boys got to play. Inexperience and a scratch team did not help although they won 1 and lost 3. The first game a resounding 7-3 win.
The P6's played 4 and won 4 and received the P6 competition trophy. The effort and commitment in all their games was exceptional. Well done to the team making it 2 wins in 2 and hoping to finish on a high at the Morgan Tournament.
Please all remember the 24th May is the end of season - P6/7 Match versus parents and Coaches, 7's Tournament, Barbeque and Awards.
Starting at 10:30 on the 24th May we are going to hold a ‘Buddy Race’ pairing up a P7 and an S1 to do an obstacle course. We will have a prize for the winning pair. If you want to take part please let Craig ca.machan@btconnect.com know as soon as possible and we can agree the pairs. We might have a prize for the winners.
On the 27th May the SRU with the Calcutta Cup will be at Kinross High School as part of the preparations for the school tour to Canada. On the same day the feeder school P7s will be involved in the form of a Minis tournament. It will actually be more like two tournaments - one for those that have are experienced and tag/touch tournament for those that aren't. We will publish more information as and when available.
Congratulations to all the boys who took part in the Crieff Tournament on the 27th May. Some memorable individual and team performances that were commented on by many a parent and coach from the opposing teams.
The day was finished off with the P6 side winning their age group competition. It was a memorable performance with no tries scored against them.
Well Done to All!
The training whilst the exams are on will be on a Thursday night only. The kicking competition will be held on Thursday 22nd for the Midi’s – can Adam defend his title?
On the 24th May it is the Cougars End of Season and amongst other activities we will be holding a 7's tournament for the Midi’s. We need 4 teams mixed between the age groups. We are looking for the current captains and vice captains to get a team together (the coaches will maybe even things up a bit). So Alasdair, Stuart, Ross and Douglas it is up to you to start picking your teams and you must have an S1, S2, S3, and an S4 as a minimum. The 7's will kick off at 11:00 (first round), end of season awards (12:00) and then final rounds (13:00). Please get your teams to Craig and/or Andy as soon as possible.
