Enjoy Some Dundee Jam

Dundee_jam_logo_2 The date for the next Dundee Jam has just been announced.  SATURDAY MAY 31ST is the day to put in your calendar.

We've not covered Dundee Jam in the past, despite bothering people about it several weeks ago.

We reckoned that it was SUCH a good story, jam-packed (sorry) with indie goodness and interesting gamingness, we'd keep it till the hordes of Guardian Tech Weekly listeners, swung by to check out SG.biz and find out what the cutting edge of game development in Scotland is really all about.

Dundee Jam is, in short, a one-day game design fest. It takes place, as the name suggests, in Dundee and does all sorts of good things, like promote game design, showcase creativity and generally challenges the idea that game design is a black art, requiring millions of dollars and hundreds of programmers.

Each Jam is themed, challenging the designers to come up with ideas based around the given theme.

The first Jam took place in February 2008, with the theme 'Survive'.  The results are already up online for you to play with.  We'd encourage you to go play and check them out...

The theme for the second Jam at the end of May is 'Build'.

We'll be speaking to Ian Kiigan, one of the brains behind Dundee Jam in the next couple of days, so keep your eyes peeled.

In the meantime, go play and try to come up with some good gameplay ideas for the end of the month.
