4J Announces Latest Releases

4jlogo_black ...and there are quite a few.  Dundee's most reticent and shade-loving studio has raised it's head long enough to tell us (exclusively no less) what they've been up to recently.

It's a fairly impressive list.

The company has now released seven console titles in a little over three years.  They're obviously chasing Denki's crown.

4J's latest releases are: AMF Pinbusters! and Ducati moto - both for the Nintendo DS and published by Bethesda.  Plus Overlord: Raising Hell for the PS3 and published by Codemasters.

You can read the marketing copy and see some screenshots after the jump.

Congratulations to 4J and we hope to hear more from them in the near future (you hearing me, Frank?)

4J Studios New STAR TREK Wii Title Released In US

Star_trek_conquest Dundee's 4J Studios got in touch this morning to let us know that their latest title - Star Trek: Conquest - is now on sale in the USA.  Described as a blend of (intense) action and strategy, the game uses the WiiRemote and Nunchuk to create a control system that we can see Captain Kirk enjoying, but Captain Picard - maybe not so much ("Where's the 'negotiate' button?)

From the official press release:

Take control of Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion, and Breen forces and lead them in a campaign to control the Galaxy, one planet at a time. You can build and manage your growing empire in turn-based strategy, fully utilizing the Wii Remote™ as you select and maneuver your Starships throughout the large, galactic map.

Strategically, you must effectively manage limited resources to expand your empire. You decide how to best achieve objectives by ordering your fleets and admirals, building support structures, researching technology, and engaging your enemies in combat.

Once battle is initiated, Conquest switches to a ship level tactical view allowing direct command of your ships as you engage in real-time combat. While maneuvering your Starship with the Nunchuk™, you can take direct aim and fire away with the Wii Remote™.

Sounds intriguing.  We're not sure how it squares with the prime directive, but anything which lets us take the Enterprise out and actually blow things up is going to get a welcoming smile from a lot of people.

There's even an official interview with 4J's Frank Arnott with more in-depth details about the game.

Anticipation for Star Trek: Conquest is running high within the tight knit Star Trek community and we're expecting the first reviews any time now.

We're told that the European launch is due 'soon', so you never know, your Christmas season might include giving the Cardassian's a good what for, turning the Federation into a much-feared, military-led invasion force and knocking the hell out of the Borg. Go on, you know you want to...

4J Studios Emerges From The Shadows

4jlogo_black In the past, Dundee was famous for the '3 J's' - jute, jam and journalism.  More recently you could arguably add a fourth J - Joysticks - to the line-up, thanks to the city's strong line up of gaming talent.

Enter 4J Studios.  The company was established in 2005 by Frank Arnott, Paddy Burns and Chris van der Kuyl, all well known names within the Scottish games industry.

4J contacted the SG team earlier this week to say hello and to bring us up to speed on their latest projects.

The company currently working on a number of titles including The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the Sony PlayStation 3.

Nice.

A link to the 4J Studios site has been added and we'll be talking to the company in the near future for a feature or interview.
