BAFTA Scotland Interactive Nominees Announced

The nominations for the 2008 Scottish BAFTAs were announced this morning.  Alongside the noble and fabulous from the worlds of film and television, the Interactive award sparkles, like a digital gem.

There are three nominees in the category:

• GTA IV (Rockstar North)
• The London Transport Museum (ISO)
• Slabovia.TV (Tern Television)

Though we were chilled to see a nomination for HEDZ in the Children's programme category.  That was a false alarm, however.  Sadly, it's nothing to do with the original game (one day though...)

Last year, mobile upstarts Dynamo shocked the country by stealing the award from Realtime's Crackdown, with their insanely detailed Championship Manager title.

The actual awards ceremony is held on November 9th in Glasgow.  Your editors will be there, blogging live(ish) to bring you all of the red carpet glamour and sneaky pictures of stars wondering who the hell we are...

We've even asked the BAFTA folks if we can go behind the scenes and find out more about the Interactive awards in Scotland.  Whatever happens, you'll hear about it first on sg.biz...

Develop Awards: Rockstar, Realtime & Dare All Winners

The Develop awards took place in Brighton last night, with Scottish companies picking up a number of prizes.

Forgive us if we've missed any out, but there's some discrepancy between the reports on Develop and GI.biz

Rockstar North won VISUAL ARTS ACCOMPLISHMENT, AUDIO ACCOMPLISHMENT, TECHNICAL INNOVATION and BEST IN-HOUSE DEVELOPER.  (The overall Rockstar group was also awarded the SPECIAL RECOGNITION award, for services to games and such).

Realtime Worlds picked up the BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT prize

The University of Abertay and Dare to be Digital won the first ever GAMES EDUCATION NEW TALENT prize.

Congratulations all round and we hope to show off the shiny new awards in a future update.  In the meantime, it's another opportunity to show off our L337 gimp skillz.

BAFTA Scotland - Dynamo Wins Interactive Trophy

Congratulations to Dynamo Games for picking up the Interactive Award at last nights BAFTA Scotland Ceremony.

Commiserations to Realtime Worlds who were also nominated.  And our heartiest good wishes to the BBC Online team for the Raven website (which is actually quite good if you've got 5 mins)

Giving the trophy to a mobile title, which was nominated alongside a next-gen console title is a brave move from BAFTA.  Here's hoping it's the first step in BAFTA Scotland making the interactive sector a more relevant tightly integrated and fascinating part of the night's glittering ceremony.

Of course, as far as we're concerned, they're BOTH winners.

Very well done all round.  We'll be posting a picture of the Dynamo chaps holding/stroking their award as soon as they sober up enough to stand up.

Pocket Master V Sandbox Monster - To The Death...

Don't forget readers this Sunday sees the Scottish BAFTA ceremony, which takes place at a glittering community centre in Bathgate (Glasgow was fully booked).

Dynamo Games V Realtime Worlds.  Who will claim the shiny, shiny trophy for their own?

Our efforts to find out who the judges are have been fruitless so far, but the BAFTA PR folk say they will happily pass the info on once the awards are handed out.  They've also assured us that the judges are in fact 'Top Men' from the industry.
