Maple Leaf Rage - Montreal Not As Nice As Glasgow

Mark Greenshields, the man behind DC Studios and now, Firebrand Games, appeared in Develop recently, in an article looking at the Montreal development scene and comparing it to the industry in the UK.

Controversially perhaps, Mr Greenshields says that Montreal is not an efficient place to run a small development studio and decries the lack of skilled people in the area and the impact of increasing salaries needed to attract the best people.

Firebrand's Race Driver Create & Race on Hot Holiday Lists

Race Driver: Create & Race - the new game from Firebrand in Glasgow, published by Codemasters - is on the IGN AND Eurogamer  lists of Must Have games for Christmas.   

It was also one of the only games shown at this year's EIF to be developed in Scotland. The game's been picking up quite a bit of positive feedback and decent reviews from the press recently, who are praising the variety in the game and ability to create your own tracks. 

It's nice to see a game from a Scottish developer getting some positive coverage and Firebrand itself has been praised for it's careful handling of a franchise which started life on more powerful platforms.

Another day, another new company added to the SG.biz comprehensive database of companies in Scotland involved in the interactive entertainment sector...

The company specialises in the creation of driving games for handheld game devices, according to their website.

Even more exciting, they'll be taking part in this year's Edinburgh Interactive Festival (more on that shortly), as their Race Driver game will be part of the range of titles Codemasters is bringing along.
