Another day closer to Christmas, another 2007 roundup from a Scottish games company. Today, because we had Radio 6 on in the office and heard FOUR decent new bands one after the other - and were thinking fondly of music, we pulled - entirely at random - JACK'S HOOSE MUSIC out of our magic Santa Hat. For those of you who didn't see the Consolevania team fawning over Ged in the fluff piece earlier this year, he's a former member of Danny Wilson, multi-instrumentalist, composer and general hero in the world of games audio.
Ged took some time out from his whirlwind week of interviews, touring, groupies and Christmas shopping to have a member of his entourage answer our questions...
1) What are your three highlights from 2007?
- Dundee hosting Go North Music Event in May where I managed to still stand after catching 9 gigs in one night (Norris McWhirter take note).
- Having my studio invaded by the Consolvania team..
- Winning a Scottish Music Futures Award to help me launch a games music record label in 2008.
2) Three less pleasing moments/events from 2007?
- Having a US publisher pull out of a title after I'd written a ton of fantastic interactive music...
- Scotland failing to qualify for Euro 2008
- My Nintendo Wii giving up the ghost.
3) Three things you're either looking forward to, or would like to see in 2008?
- Games Music featuring at the bigger bolder better EIF.
- An upper limit placed on awards for Realtime Worlds... only joking!
- Interactive Tayside nights to feature tapas, San Miguel and bearded women.
4) What two gifts would you most like to see in your stocking come Christmas?
- iPhone.
- A copy of Harmonix's ROCK BAND
5) What should we look forward to from JHM in the next 12 months?
- We will be launching a new Games Music download Label and signing more talented acts to add to our roster.
- New song releases from our acts Farfletched and Game Boyz.
