Jon Sykes, the managing director of new development company Play Technologies contacted SG with the latest information from the company and a request for a link on the site.
For anyone who hasn't come across Play Technologies before, they've been working on a new poker game, called - until recently - Poker Face.
However, the company was asked - very nicely one would imagine - by Freemantle Media, to give them the name, so they can slap it on the new Pokerface programme from ubiquitous Tyneside scamps Ant & Dec.
Play's poker game will now be coming out with the title Poker Dogs instead. No word yet on whether Channel 5 will want that title for their saucy new card show.
Play Technology has signed three new games with a publisher, including Poker Dogs itself. Poker Dogs is a game for adults with what the company claims is a 'neo-noir' atmosphere. The game promises something new in gameplay with all of the characters within the game having 'tells' which will allow the player to predict what they're thinking and how they'll play. The company website lists the PC, PS2 and PSP as target platforms. The website also mentions another title called Lycanthrope, which offers a twist on the werewolf mythology.
To give itself elbow room for all of the above, Play will be moving into new offices in Edinburgh in September.
In the meantime, the company's current contact details are below and a link has been added to the SG site.
We shall hassle Jon Sykes in the near future for more information on the company and their games...
